High friction surfacing
Glendining Highways are specialists in high friction surfacing that work to actively reduce vehicle braking distance and decrease the likelihood of skidding. Glendining have the skilled staff and equipment to install a range of both cold applied and hot applied surfaces – either as main contractors or sub-contractors.
The surfaces aid safety when they are applied to important braking zones, such as on the approaches to pedestrian crossings, junctions, roundabouts and traffic lights. As well as helping with braking, the surfaces work to improve a vehicle’s steering response and tyre grip in areas such as sharp bends or steep hills where traction is important.
Glendining can install surfaces in a variety of colours there are different products designed for varying levels of traffic and wear. Glendining only supply quality products that have undergone rigorous testing.
Glendining can advise on the best types of products to use in the following areas:
- Traffic calming
- Highlighting hazardous areas
- Sharp bends
- Pedestrian crossings
- Zebra crossings
- Other hazard sites
- Pedestrian grade surfacing for footpaths and cycleways
- Bus lanes
The cold applied finishes are generally epoxy resin, MMA or bauxite and Glendining also install hot applied thermoplastic. Both have type 1 approval.
